Leadership, Learning and Connections at Corus’ First Doctor Development Intensive

Have you ever wondered what happens when you bring together a group of passionate, early-career orthodontists and some of the most experienced leaders in the specialty. Well, you get something pretty special, and that’s exactly what we created at our very first Doctor Development Intensive in Toronto, Ontario.

Over three dynamic days, these future leaders came together to learn from seasoned Doctor-Partners in our network. Swapping stories, picking up skills that’ll set them up for success, and building genuine connections that go beyond the typical practice. This wasn’t just your average workshop series, it was real talk, hands-on learning, and the beginnings of friendships that will last a lifetime.

Held at Align Technology’s Customer Education and Training facility, this key development program brought our future-leaders together for a multi-day, high impact program that covered it all, complete with free Continuing Education (CE) credits. From sharpening clinical skills to building critical business acumen not typically learned in residency, getting top doctors’ “secret sauce” on efficient practice operations that elevate patient care, and diving into leadership and communications strategies, every session was intentionally designed to accelerate the growth of our Associate Doctors on their paths to become principal doctors and practice leaders.

Beyond the classroom, mixing in a bit of fun with team dinners and a scenic harbor-front cruise offered a chance to recharge and bond with peers who understand the same early-career experiences. One could say, those who are in the same boat as you? (pun intended). Check out the highlights reel below for a taste of the fun.

More than anything, this Intensive was about community. Our Associate Doctors opened up about their challenges (spoiler: it’s not easy transitioning from residency into practice), gained advice from those who have been there, and built not only supportive relationships but also mentorship connections that will carry them forward. At Corus, community isn’t just an aspirational value, it’s a cornerstone. This Intensive is just one piece of our larger Doctor Excellence Program, built to support our Associate Doctors in all the key areas that matter for them.

We create space and opportunities for our doctors to build strong, lasting relationships, ensuring no one navigates their career alone. Based on the energy and insight shared over the weekend, we’d say mission accomplished. Every moment reinforced what makes our network so unique – a genuine commitment to helping each other succeed and share in each other’s success.
