When Dr. Bryce Tremblay started his practice in 2006, growth came naturally. Through hard work, strong patient relationships, intuition, and a talented team behind him, his practice continued to expand year after year.
But as many practice owners discover, growth brings new challenges.
We sat down with Dr. Tremblay to discuss his journey, how partnering with Corus helped him transform and nearly double his practice’s growth, and why having the right support network has made all the difference.
Before partnering with Corus, what did growth look like in your practice?
Dr. Tremblay: About four years ago, I didn’t really have a defined set of practice goals or a clear measure of success. My practice started small and most of the growth happened organically. A lot of what I was doing was reacting rather than planning.
As long as our production and collections were increasing year over year, I considered that success. But eventually the growth became difficult to manage. The practice was expanding beyond what I could comfortably handle on my own, and I realized I needed better systems and more structure to support where my practice was headed.
What attracted you to Corus at that point in your career?
Dr. Tremblay: I had started looking at consultants because I felt like I was being pulled in too many directions. I knew there were things missing, but I wasn’t entirely sure what they were.
I had heard about Corus through colleagues and friends, and I became curious about what partnering could help me accomplish. What stood out immediately was the partnership model.
“The opportunity to continue practicing the way I had, just in an enhanced way was very attractive to me. It would allow me to offload some of my responsibilities and focus on the patients and things that really mattered”. – Dr. Bryce Tremblay
Plus, the idea that important decisions would be made with me, not for me, was incredibly important. Corus was doctor-founded and doctor-led, and committed to maintaining clinical autonomy. Those were all things that mattered deeply to me.
How has Corus supported your practice growth?
Dr. Tremblay: One of the biggest things was taking a complete look at our systems.
It felt like the Corus team helped us reverse-engineer the entire practice. Instead of reacting to growth, we started with clear goals and identified the systems and opportunities that would help us achieve them. That included redesigning my doctor schedule, making more intentional use of doctor time, and putting the right processes in place to support.
One of the biggest opportunities we identified was our online presence. Before partnering with Corus, we relied almost entirely on word-of-mouth referrals and established relationships within our communities. We didn’t have much of a digital footprint, which meant potential patients often couldn’t find us online.
With Corus’ support, we developed a stronger online presence through launching a new website and digital marketing efforts. That visibility has become an important driver of growth alongside the referrals we’ve always valued.
Your annual starts have nearly doubled since partnering with Corus. What contributed to that?
Dr. Tremblay: It really comes down to alignment and intention.
It wasn’t just me. My team understood what we were working towards and why. Corus helped us become much more transparent about our goals, benchmarks, and performance, and sharing those openly with our team. Instead of simply doing our jobs each day, everyone understood the numbers we were trying to achieve and the opportunities we had to improve.
One area Corus identified as an area of opportunity was our case acceptance. By looking closely at our patient journey and making intentional improvements, we increased our case acceptance rate by 15%. That had a meaningful impact on our overall growth.
We’ve certainly not done this alone. The growth we’ve experienced has been the direct result of support from Corus and a team that truly believed in what we were building.
How has Corus helped you find efficiencies and manage overhead costs?
Dr. Tremblay: Overhead has always been a focus for me. I realized early on that practice efficiency was an area where we could make a real impact. Regardless of your growth, managing overhead and improving efficiency are important to the overall health of a practice.
One of the biggest benefits has been Corus’ buying group. We have access to virtually all of the same equipment and supplies we were already using, but through a more streamlined platform and at better pricing. That has made a meaningful difference in helping us maintain reasonable overhead while continuing to grow.
How has being part of Corus benefited your team?
Dr. Tremblay: The impact on my team has been significant. They have a much clearer understanding of where our practice is headed and how their work contributes to those goals. Having shared benchmarks and visibility into our progress has created a stronger sense of ownership and engagement across the team.
“It’s also the ability to come into the office every day knowing that there are people who have my back. I have a whole network of people I can turn to, and that makes life easier.”
There are benefits and opportunities available today that I wouldn’t have been able to provide on my own. From comprehensive health benefits programs to regular recognition initiatives, team members feel supported and appreciated.
They also feel connected to something larger than our practices. That sense of belonging and community has been incredibly meaningful.
What advice would you give to other doctors considering a partnership network?
Dr. Tremblay: I think the first thing is to do your research. You’re going to hear a lot about different partnership models, and on the surface, they can appear very similar. You have to look beyond what you’re being told and really understand what the partnership is built on.
It’s always going to be somewhat of a leap of faith because you don’t fully know what it’s like until you’re actually part of it. For me, Corus just felt different. Every person I met within the network spoke about the partnership in a way that felt genuine, and as I learned more, I started to understand the nuances of what made the model different.
At the foundation, it was always about being a true partner while maintaining my clinical authority and autonomy. That was important to me then, and it’s something I’ve continued to value throughout my time with Corus.
“I think the biggest difference between being a private practitioner and being part of Corus is having a group of doctors who are vested in your success, who are always available, and who are your biggest cheerleaders. That’s been a big difference maker for me within the partnership.” – Dr. Bryce Tremblay
What excites you most about the future?
Dr. Tremblay: Being located in smaller communities, succession planning has always been something I’ve thought about.
What gives me confidence is knowing that Corus can tap into the power of our North American network, utilize all their resources, and rely on their expert experience to help navigate a future transition for all Doctor-Partners. Whether it’s recruiting qualified Associate Doctors, planning for the long-term growth and success of your practice, or preparing for a future transition, there’s a thoughtful roadmap in place that helps support continuity of care for your patients.
There’s comfort in knowing you’re not navigating those milestones alone.
