About Us

Founded in 2019, Corus Orthodontists is a growing orthodontic partnership network that provides an ideal balance of support and autonomy for orthodontic specialists at all stages of their careers. We have grown to become a dynamic group of 31 practices and over 500 team members who believe in preserving and evolving our specialty of orthodontics, and in protecting the integrity of the patient-doctor relationship. Our model was founded by and is fully owned and financed by orthodontic specialists. Our goal is to provide exceptional patient care, preserve and evolve the patient-doctor relationship, foster an inclusive culture, and fully support our team members.

Dr. Paul Helpard

Dr. Paul Helpard

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Paul Helpard is CEO and founder of Corus. He was instrumental in developing the Corus partnership model and was the driving force in launching Corus. Paul brings both clinical and business expertise to his leadership role at Corus. Paul began his dental career in 1991 as a dental officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. He subsequently became an orthodontist and has held numerous leadership and teaching positions during his career. Paul is the principal orthodontist of Shoreline Orthodontics, a 5-office group of practices where he honed his skills as a business leader.
Paul is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, a member of the Angle Society, holds an undergraduate science degree from Western University, a dental degree from McGill University and a Masters of Science and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Iowa.

Nick Korhonen

Nick Korhonen

Chief Financial Officer

Nick is a seasoned financial executive, responsible for overseeing all aspects of Corus’ financial management, including process improvement, business analysis, and mergers and acquisitions. Nick has extensive experience working with dentists across North America. He was formerly a partner in a National accounting firm, where he led the Canadian tax practice for professionals, working with over 3,000 dentists across Canada. In addition to working with practice owners, Nick has worked with National and Provincial dental associations to help them understand and adapt to the rapid evolution of the dental landscape in North America. Nick is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University.

Brett Laschinger

Brett Laschinger

Chief Operating Officer

Brett is an executive with deep expertise leading healthcare and clinical services companies. At Corus, he is responsible for strategic planning, new partner clinic onboarding, operational improvement, human resources, marketing & communications, systems, and digital strategy. Previously, Brett served as the COO of Medcan, a Toronto-based primary and diagnostic care company where he led all operations, clinician relations and government regulatory affairs. Earlier in his career, Brett was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, and also served in both issues management and policy roles in the Office of the Premier in Ontario. Brett holds a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

Shaun Childs

Director of People & Culture

Shaun is an innovative HR leader and is passionate about the power of people when they are engaged and fulfilled. Shaun leads Corus’ people and culture strategy and is focused on fostering a strong community and strengthening high-performing teams across the network.
Prior to joining Corus in 2020, Shaun developed deep expertise as an HR leader and trusted advisor with world-class, culture-oriented organizations, Rogers Communications and Suncor Energy.
Shaun holds a bachelor’s degree in Management & Organizational Studies from Western University, a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from George Brown College and is pursuing a Professional Master of Industrial Relations at Queen’s University.

Jeremy Goetz

Director of Orthodontic Partnerships (Canada)

Jeremy is a well-known and respected orthodontics business development professional with over 20 years of experience. At Corus Orthodontists, he leads the development and growth of orthodontic practice partnerships in Canada. Jeremy has a passion for orthodontics and expertise helping practice owners adapt to the evolving dentistry landscape in North America. Prior to joining Corus, Jeremy worked for Align Technology Inc. in Canada, where he helped to build the Invisalign brand and led sales and marketing functions. Jeremy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brock University.

Adam Pollack

Adam Pollack

Director of Orthodontic Partnerships (United States)

Adam has been leading business strategy and development in orthodontics for more than 20 years. At Corus Orthodontists, he leads the business development and growth of orthodontic practice partnerships in the United States. He has extensive knowledge in both the international and North American orthodontic space having spent nearly two decades working for RMO, Inc. in Denver, CO. Most recently, he was a member of the core executive team leading global sales and marketing strategy. Adam graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts and Master of International Business degrees.

Tara Lemieux

Tara Lemieux

Director of Marketing, Communications and Investor Relations

Tara is a seasoned marketing leader with 20 years’ experience in B2C & B2B marketing with a passion for driving results. Tara leads Corus’ marketing, communications and investor relations bringing depth from her experience managing successful brands in the technology and financial services sectors. Prior to joining Corus, she led communications strategy, media and CRM teams at Tangerine and spent more than a decade at Dell where she built her direct and digital acumen holding several roles across all segments of the organization. Tara holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Travis Beamish

Travis Beamish

Director of Operations, Practice Performance and Integration

Travis is an operations leader with extensive experience driving improvement with healthcare organizations in Canada and the United States. He and his team are responsible for the onboarding of new Corus practices, as well as ongoing operational support to help doctors achieve their practice goals. Prior to Corus, Travis was Director of Business Operations and Analytics at the Hospital for Sick Children, where he managed finances, scheduling, supply chain and data analytics for the Operating Rooms. Travis has a Bachelor of Science from Harvard University, and a Master of Business Administration from Ivey Business School.

Abraham Nel

Abraham Nel

Director of Mergers & Acquisitions and Financial Planning & Analysis

Abraham is a seasoned finance manager who has worked across multiple industries leading due diligence for M&A transactions. Abraham leads Corus’ acquisition team responsible for evaluating the financial results of future partner practices, integrating them into the Corus network, as well as special planning and analysis projects looking towards Corus’ future. Prior to joining Corus, Abraham spent most of his career at KPMG where he worked across several service lines, including audit and transaction advisory services, and helped clients in a variety of industries buy and sell businesses. Abraham holds a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant designation.

Michael Sendyk

Michael Sendyk

Controller

Mike is a solution-oriented financial executive with 20 years of experience in strategic financial planning and operations management. As Corporate Controller at Corus, Mike leads a team of accounting professionals who add value at a corporate and clinic level, through accurate accounting practices, timely financial reporting, and establishing key financial controls. Mike has extensive accounting and finance experience having held senior positions in a variety of industries including communications, energy and most recently health and fitness, where as VP Finance and Administration, he successfully led the acquisition and integration of multiple fitness locations. Mike is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary.

Erin Smart

General Counsel

A seasoned legal advisor, Erin is responsible for overseeing the legal, compliance and corporate secretarial functions at Corus. She has a broad corporate practice, with over 15 years experience in mergers and acquisitions, commercial law, governance, regulatory compliance, real estate and corporate finance. Prior to moving in-house, Erin practiced at several leading international law firms both in Toronto and in New York. She is admitted to practice in Ontario and the State of New York.

Gabe Mazzarolo

Vice President of Technology & Systems

Gabe is a technology champion with over 25 years of experience building and leading teams to transform business processes though the use of technology. Gabe leads the Technology team at Corus and will continue to develop the IT landscape with new and innovative programs to increase efficiencies and productivity. Prior to joining Corus, he led the Technology teams of many organizations including Randstad Canada, WIS International, Workopolis and M·A·C Cosmetics. His focus on developing his people, Change Management and Digital Transformation have been key drivers to his successes. Gabe graduated from DeVry University in the Electronic Engineering program and holds a certificate from the American Management Association.
