Learning by Doing
We’re all for supporting the next generation of pros, giving students the tools, experience, and encouragement they need to thrive in orthodontics. One of our recent stops took us to Risio Dental Education in Calgary, Alberta. We joined their ortho-module certification course to give aspiring orthodontic assistants a taste of the technology and tools that make orthodontics so exciting. With the help of our iTero scanner, students rotated through different stations learning about 3D scanning, x-rays and imaging, intraoral photography – you name it, they tried it.
But learning doesn’t always happen IRL in classrooms. So, we bring the experience online too. Whether it’s through free virtual webinars, like our recent one, Inside and Ortho Practice: Look into your Future Career, or more customized sessions for college programs, our teams love sharing their knowledge and stories.
Recently, we stopped by Vancouver Community College to chat about the CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) program and the path to becoming a Certified Orthodontics Assistant. We highlighted everything from a typical day-to-day, the skills needed to excel, and how ortho fits in with the wider dental world, covering all the details.
But these events often lead to something more. Learning sessions spark interest, and many students go on to shadow at Corus practices, an incredible launch pad to kick-start their careers. What better way to get hands-on experience, and we love supporting them every step of the way.
Making Real Connections
We’re always on the lookout for ways to spread the Corus magic. From hosting educational webinars and resident dinners, to dropping into college campuses for Lunch & Learns or showing up at industry conferences, we love any excuse to meet bright, curious students, and introduce them to the world of orthodontics (and what makes the Corus network so one-of-a-kind).
And trust us, these conversations make a difference. Through these events, we’ve seen firsthand how students gain valuable insights into the realities of orthodontics. One thing they’ve learned? Orthodontics offers diverse paths, whether your interest lies with the science, the technology, the artistry or even the business side, orthodontics has something for everyone. And there’s nothing more exciting for us than seeing a student’s “aha!” moment when they realize their passion and the impact they can make in this ever-evolving industry.
Why We Do What We Do
We don’t go to the lengths that we do just to spread the good vibes and share the news on the gram (although, who doesn’t love a good group pic?) We do it because we believe in community, mentorship, and creating a space where students can learn, explore, and grow. There’s potential in every student we meet, and we’re here to help inspire them to find their spark, and maybe their future in ortho.
