Al graduated from the University of Waterloo as an optometrist in 1990, and became a founder and managing partner of Northern Vision Centre, which developed into one of Canada’s largest independent optometric practices. Al oversaw the creation of FYidoctors, a majority doctor owned and led network of optometrists. FYidoctors still stands as the largest business merger in Canadian history in terms of the number of companies involved. He was awarded the Ernst and Young Emerging Entrepreneur Award for Western Canada in 2008 and the Prairies Entrepreneur Award in 2012. Al is a holder of the Institute of Corporate Directors Director designation. He currently serves as CEO and Chair of the FYidoctors Board of Directors.
Michael attended the University of Oregon, where he played on the varsity tennis team. After graduating with a Science degree (Honours), Michael earned his Doctorate in Dentistry from Oregon Health Sciences University (Honours). He received his specialty Diploma in Orthodontics from Nova Southeastern University. Michael is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He has been on the Canadian Association of Orthodontists as a member of the advisory board for the New and Younger Members and currently on the executive board of the Ontario Association of Orthodontists.
Shawn is a dedicated orthodontist with a private practice in Edmonton, Alberta. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree and a dental degree as a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll at the University of Alberta. After several years of general practice, he returned to the University of Alberta to complete his postgraduate Orthodontic studies. This clinically-based program allowed him to pursue research in facial asymmetries and imaging techniques. Shawn has served as a Board member of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
Sharon graduated from McGill Dentistry on the Dean’s Honour List, and also obtained her MBA from McGill University. After several years in private practice as a general dentist in Montreal, Sharon then trained to become an orthodontist at Jacksonville University, Florida.
Sharon owns and operates two private orthodontic specialty practices in Toronto and takes pride in creating beautiful smiles in her multicultural community. Sharon believes that orthodontics is a powerful way to improve an individual’s confidence and provides opportunities for personal growth.
Warren received his dental degree from the University of Toronto, attended the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the University of Michigan and completed a Master of Science degree in orthodontics at the University of Manitoba. He has been proud to serve the Calgary community as an orthodontist for over 15 years. Warren is a member of many dental and orthodontic study clubs and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba.
Paul completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Western University and a dental degree at McGill. He then practiced dentistry as a captain in the Canadian Armed Forces, before earning his Master of Science and Certificate of Orthodontics at the University of Iowa. Paul has lived and worked in private practice on Vancouver Island for over 25 years.
Paul is a consultant orthodontist on the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies Team at B.C. Children’s Hospital and a clinical assistant professor in the Graduate Orthodontic program at the University of British Columbia. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a former examiner for the RCDC, and is a member of the Edward H. Angle Society.
Lesley’s first degree is in Business. While studying for her B.Comm, she represented Canada on the National field hockey Team. Lesley then developed a keen interest in health sciences. After earning her Doctor of Medical Dentistry, Lesley spent time in general practice before completing three additional years of specialized training in orthodontics and began private practice as an orthodontist.
Lesley went on to become the Chief Examiner for Orthodontics with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), and a member of the Edward H. Angle Society. She has also served as an examiner for the ABO and is a Past President of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
